2002 Cross-Country Roadtrip
Day 19, Union, WV August 4th 10:30pm

I always forget just how pretty West Virginia is. We drove down to West Virginia yesterday (Saturday) through some thunderstorms which made the light and sunset really pretty.
The last few days Cedar and I were hanging out with various families of mine. We had a yummy dinner of steaks and corn at my Mom’s house on Wednesday night. While we were there my brother Mac played a song he wrote on his new guitar. The other pressing news is that I managed to have a pretty strong allergic reaction to something and my feet, hands and many other parts have been itching like crazy. When I scratch these red welts appear, but if I leave them alone you wouldn’t be able to tell that anything was wrong except I can tell you it still itches. I’ve had this for 4 days now, and it is slowly getting better, but I’m really tired of it. We still don’t know what I had a reaction to.
On Thursday (first day of itch) we went with my Dad to pick up his new car. He traded in his A8 for a new S8. The “S” stands for “super-duper-drive-real-fast-make-your-friends-jealous”. It is really nice and has suede leather all over, even on the ceiling. I also bought a red A4 and Cedar bought a silver Porsche. I wish. Barbara (my step mom) made a delicious dinner Thursday night of Tacos. Friday (2nd day of increasing itch) I managed to overcome my itchiness and go shopping with Mom. She bought me a lovely leather purse at Strawbridge’s. At this point the itch was pretty bad (I thought it was poison ivy at that point, but I’ve since concluded that it just doesn’t have the morphology of PI), so I spent the rest of the day lying down. Saturday we (rather Cedar) drove down to West Virginia and arrived to find a delicious feast ready for consumption. Today we went to a brunch with all the relatives here, then went to go swimming in the Greenbrier River. It was all great fun, and my itching was better today, but by no means gone. I’m hoping tomorrow I’m better still.
