2002 Cross-Country Roadtrip
Day 3, Minnesota July 22nd 9:27pm

Did you know that mosquitoes can bite through thin cotton? Well, as your faithful test subject, I know they can. Bastards. Here we are at Kilen Woods State Park in Minnesota. I’d like to introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Mosquito. Oops, I killed Mr. Mosquito, you’ll have to see him in hell.
Last night we rolled into Bear Butte State Park in western South Dakota at 11pm. Cedar and I had fond memories of when we stayed at the very same park, even at the very same campsite, on our way out to Seattle. It is a great park as it is cheap and beautiful (like a good whore;).
Today we spent most of our time driving through South Dakota. South Dakota is flat. Though there is the occasional butte here and there. In fact, Cedar’s ass is apparently pretty big because it even has it’s own road sign. We deliberated long and hard (While travelling at 80 mph on the highway: “Cedar, shall we take the scenic loop to Badlands?” “Sure”.) and took the scenic route through Badlands National Park. As parks go it is a good one, with plenty of eye candy. I rate it close to Canyonlands National Park, as it has a similar feel to it.
We feel kind of inadequate because we only travelled in two states today. Yesterday it was four. Tomorrow may be four, but it could only be three. We’ll see.
Quote of the day: “You have to learn to channel your energy productively” -Mother at the camp ground next to us giving her 8 year old son a lecture, apparently for riding his bike around the park. Don’t ask because I don’t know.
