2002 Cross-Country Roadtrip
Day 2, Wyoming July 21st 9:08pm

Did you know that Montana is big? Well, it is. I think its motto should be “Drive really far” instead of “Big Sky”. A couple days ago, I was hemming and hawing about how I remembered that one section of Montana is really flat. Well, I don’t know if I was smoking something or had my head stashed in some dark place, but it is NOT flat. It was the 11,000 foot mountains that tipped me off. Montana is a seriously beautiful place. The combination of big mountains, flat lush valley’s and blue sky is awesome. The best part of the day was when our cruise control started working. The “Love and Marriage” song started playing in my head except the words were “Montana and cruise control, Montana and cruise control . . .”
Right now we’re driving through Wyoming. We’re running ahead of a very wet rainstorm, which also happens to be the reason we’re driving instead of sitting at a camp site. We’re somewhere near Devil’s Tower, at which we may stop, but we might just keep on through the night.
It turns out the red necks camping next to us last night went to bed early (or got busy early, I don’t care, they were quiet). I was expecting to be kept up all night, but I was pleasantly surprised. I’m finding having really low expectations sets you up for lots of pleasant surprises!
